Latest Quilt Top

This quilt top is suppose to be for a twin bed so I made two squares of each one so it will be bigger than a twin size. I am in the process of putting it together to make one quilt out of all the squares but I will do one at a time!

This is Square Number 1 & it is one of my favorite squares of this whole quilt!
Square Number 2 Square Number 3 Square Number 4
Square Number 5 Square Number 6
Square Number 7 Square Number 8 is the most emotionally difficult for me to make. While using mom's material is always emotional, this one was the hardest one so far... Mom loved Christmas & it looks like she made a Christmas tree out of this fabric!
Square Number 9
Square Number 10
Square Number 11
Square Number 12 These are the little squares that will go in between the main squares. There are 6 for each quilt.
This is how it might look after I sew it together without the boarder.

Rob & Me

I came across this picture of my brother & me while I was looking for the picture of the coats that my grandma made out of my dad's Navy uniform. I thought it was cute! It was taken in May of 1965. I just graduated from 8th grade going to be a freshman in high school & Rob was 6 years old. I didn't realize he was so young!

And...here we are 41 years later! He really has aged, hasn't he! Just kidding! He's a great brother!

Happy Tuesday!

This is a picture that I took last year when I had to drive a field trip to Heritage Hill. It reminds me of my grandma because she had a sewing maching like that & a sewing basket exactly like this one! She was really good a sewing!
One of these days I will take a picture of my new quilt squares that I am working on!
Here is my sister & I wearing hats & coats that grandma made for us out of dad's Navy dress uniform.

This is my grandma, isn't she cute! She is the sister to my Uncle Clarence in my post last week of our family reunion!

Gone for Two Years!

Two years ago today, September 21 at 7:55AM, I was with my mom as she took her last breath & the last tear trickled from her eye. I'm glad she is my mom!

She would have really liked it that 2 Navy women were standing by her!

It didn't really hit me until it was time to say goodbye to my family, because as they were all leaving I realized that my family would never be the same without mom, and it isn't.

My sister did a really cool tribute on her blog!: http://janeswanson.blogspot.com/

I went to a wedding!

Last night, Friday, I went to a wedding. I haven't been to a wedding since my nephew, Justin, got married about 6 years ago.
Jenny & Dan~pictures courtesy of my sister, Ellen...

The bride doesn't like cake so they weren't going to have a cake but then she happened on an unusual appearing cake & since her husband to be is an outdoorsman & loves to fish she ordered a special wedding cake just for him...

Bryan & Shayni dancing.... their wedding anniversary was September 16, 8 years! Connie & Troy dancing...their wedding anniversary was September 18, 15 years!
And speaking of anniversaries, Lisa & James had an anniversary on August 16, 11 years for them...

Connie & Bryan~when they were little Ellen & I tried to take 'professional' pictures of them every time we were together~maybe I'll do a post of those some time. This time we just asked them to sit next to each other for a pose but I'm sure if there was a tree around they would have gladly posed hanging off the tree, just like in the 'olden' days! Connie & Kim And now the photos we have all been waiting for...
Kim & Chad have been going out for 2 months! And I hope Chad wasn't scared off by the behavior of his co-worker & my son-in-law, Troy! He sure is alot of fun isn't he! Ellen got the dancing pictures of Troy~maybe they'll show up here in a later post!

and finally~Kim & Chad dancing

Family Reunion!

In the beginning of our family we had lots of Aunts & Uncles & when we went visiting during Christmas it took lots of days to see everyone! We don't have many left & it is a hard season of my life to see that generation slipping away from me. There are only 3 left from our link to childhood days & it makes me sad but yet I am so grateful for the fun reunions we had last year & again this year!

Last year our cousins who live in California came for a visit. We hadn't seen them in about 25 years! or so. We got all the cousins we could together with our last 2 aunts & had the best time! We were missing their dad who is our last uncle but he came this year so we had another family reunion, and we had the best time ever again! Uncle Clarence & my Dad in
the 'olden' days! Uncle Clarence & My Dad today,
actually it was yesterday, if you are
reading this on September 18th.
Five Generations!
My dad, Uncle Clarence, Me
My daughter, Connie, and 2 of
my grandchildren, Tori & Carter!
Uncle Clarence is Great 3 times!
God has blessed our family through the
generations!

What a blessing it is for
me to be part of this
family & we get to
spend time together!

Uncle Clarence & nephews
and a niece! (and my dad
talks about me getting in
alot of pictures!)

OH Look here I am with Cousin John & Cousin Tom~

How did that happen?! It's my camera! Now they have to come back so I can post a picture of me with Bill & Chuck,(separately ofcourse)~only to make it fair, it has nothing to do with me being in pictures!

Family reunions are such fun, especially ours!

Makai's Dedication

August 24 Makai was dedicated to the Lord. In our church kids are dedicated to the Lord because they really belong to Him & we are priviledged to take care of them while we are here on this earth. Like when Mary & Joseph presented Jesus at the temple when he was a baby. When they are old enough to realize they are sinners & in need of a Savior, they surrend their lives to Jesus so He will come into hearts & journey this life with us. And the best part is that He will never leave us or forsake us!
Ephesians 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.
Makai's life verse is Colossians 1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

A picture of Auntie Connie, Uncle Troy and favorite cousins
Trevor, Tori & Carter
And a perfect picture with Beautiful Grandma Vicki! to make the day complete!
