Milestone for me & Remembering Mom

While I know you are probably thinking that "this is just a piece of gray material", it is, in fact a very special piece of gray material!
Anyone who has ever gone shopping with mom will tell you that there was always a material store stop during the shopping.
And there would always be a purchase of material.
On more than one occasion we would hear her say
"I'll take what's left on the bolt."
Those are very historic meaningful words to us.
I know that those words have been spoken by my sister E.M.M. and more recently by my other sister, J.A.S.
After J.A.S. told me about her chance to say those words, I wondered if I would ever have the chance to utter those words for myself.
So it was on the 26th day of June 2008 around 7:00PM-ish I had the chance to say those very words!
I told the cutting woman that I would like 2 yards of the beautiful gray material.
As she was measuring she said that there was just a little over 2 yards and I said, in the words I was taught by my mom,
"I'll take what's left on the bolt!"
It was a historic day for me!
I'll keep you posted so you will see what I will do with the very special piece of material!

Trevor's First Time Away from Us!

For the first time in all of his 13 years he is away from us for SIX whole days!

He is at summer camp with his friend, Connor.

Humoring his mom he poses at his cabin door.

I am sending him a note every day while he's gone. This is the one I will mail tomorrow.
He can read it while he's lounging on the pourch of his cabin!

Star Quilt Square #9

Well now that I see this on the computer it looks like the right side is not quite right. I hurried when I did this one because I was so excited to do it. And when I picked out the dark & light fabrics it looks like I choose the opposite. I didn't figure that out until I laid it out after I cut all the pieces. Oh well maybe I'll make another square doing it the opposite way just incase I need more squares to make the quilt bigger to fit the bed. If I don't need it I can make another pillow. That's what I'm doing with the do overs! Anyway, I do think the quilt making is pretty much fun. I hope she will do another one when this one is finished!

Happy Birthday Grandma on June 23

She was born in 1903

Then on June 1, 1926 she married grandpa.

65 Anniversarys!

We were very lucky to have such loving

grandparents.

She made the best sandwich eggs! And she turned them with a butter
knife! It was amazing to watch her!
Happy Birthday Grandma! We miss you!

Painting Saturday

I painted my back hall today. Actually, the part that took
the longest was taping woodwork & the ceiling so I wouldn'tget paint all over the place.

Painting must be exercise because my legs & back
are really sore! It will really feel good
to crawl in bed tonight!

Siding Experts Anyone?

Taking off old and then applying insulation!

Finishing up insulation on the front while a group of a group of supervisors look on!
Another group of supervisors working on the south side of the house!

Future workers training by watching?

We have very stylish workers in the next generation!

Future supervisors in training!

The training never ends!

Insulation can double for an umbrella!

Siding experts also double as people who will clean out your gutters!

And if the sidding & cleaning gutters jobs don't work out, you can always become a human pez dispenser!

Star Quilt Block #8

Here is the latest quilt block. I didn't think it would go as well as it did. It looked
pretty confusing at first but once I laid it out it was ok!

Playing with my quilt squares!

I finished all my setting squares so I thought I would lay them out to see what they looked like.

Then I layed out my star squares to see what they would look like.

Then I put them all together to see how that would look! Not Bad!

Happy Father's Day Again!

We had a Father's Day cookout. The weather was
beautiful & the food was good!

Happy Father's Day Dad!

Happy Father's Day to our dad! He taught us good work ethic & how to provide for our family. He took care of our mom when she got sick & kept her at home where she was more comfortable & secure.
Thanks Dad!

Quilt Square #6

I think this is pretty but I'm disappointed that the corner squares didn't really turn out the best. Hopefully this will all work out when the whole thing is sewen together!

Star Quilt Square #7

I like this one better because it turned out better than #6! I really like the darker material alot.

2 Quilt Squares in One Day! #6 & #7

On Monday I made 2 squares in one. The first one has 2 that don't come out equally but then the 2nd one worked our perfectly! I don't get it but I like making the squares!

Last Day of School!

Tomorrow is the last day of school & the last day of my first season of being a bus driver! All of my students have grown taller & look more mature than on the first day of school.
The naughty boys on my junior high route have learned to keep their naughty talk under more control than in the beginning-I hope they go to high school next year!
My elementary students have FINALLY learned how to stay seated while the bus is moving. I am so proud of them. I just hope they don't forget over the summer!
This summer I am going to drive every day taking kids to YMCA camp. It sounds scarey because getting into the camp will take good driving skill. I hope I am up to the challenge. I'm going to drive up there tomorrow to check it out so I will know what I am dealing with.
I really love being a bus driver, I can't believe I can drive a bus! but I really love it!
